Camp Concepts: Summer Explosion
Day Camp
June 16-20, 2008
Camp for boys and girls
Ages 9-14
Are you ready to accept the challenge? This unique week of camp is like Kid Nation meets Survivor meets Odyssey of the Mind! Campers are given a variety of activity-based challenges to solve throughout the week. These challenges encourage and provoke kids to find workable solutions to creative and fun challenges. Whether working on a large team or in small groups, campers develop better concept thinking skills, problem solving and give them a chance to apply interpersonal skills of communication as they learn how to work together. Activities change every year but includes things that have to be built and constructed, designed and implemented, tested and performed. Campers become inventors, creators, teammates, colleagues and collaborators in accepting the challenges of Summer Explosion.

For information email Steve Haines, call 267.261.4098 or visit the Camp Concepts website.

Camp Concepts: Expressions at George School
Day Camp
June 30-August 8, 2008
Camp for boys and girls
Ages 6-15
Expressions at George School- A summer day camp program designed for children ages 6-15 with High Functioning Autism (HFA), Asperger's Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities and PDD-NOS. Expressions at George School is a special place where your child can safely enjoy a fun summer camp experience while improving and practicing his or her social skills through carefully selected interactions with typical peers.

Formed in consultation with professionals in the field and an active parent steering committee, Expressions provides a much needed program for the specific needs of its campers. In addition to a program full of age appropriate games and activities, Expressions will incorporate activities designed to develop skills in the following areas: conversation, team-building, non-verbal communication, anger management, frustration tolerance, friendship making, problem solving, emotional development and opportunities for personal creativity.

Other activities in this camp program will include arts and crafts, music and dance, swimming, acting, computers, nature, team challenge activities (including activities on our low-ropes team challenge course) hiking, stream exploration and more.

Expressions consists of 3, two-week sessions. Because Expressions is a program designed to teach and reinforce prosocial behaviors, we strongly recommend campers attend at least 2 successive two-week sessions in order to provide greater consistency and reinforcement in learning, allow for a smooth transition period, and ultimately achieve the most positive results for each camper.

Each camper receives a free Expressions Camp t-shirt, daily lunch in the full service cafeteria and will enjoy daily swimming in the 8-lane, 25 meter indoor pool. A registered nurse is on duty for the duration of the camp to administer medications and oversee camper’s health and safety.

For information call Stephanie DeSouza MSW at 267.258.3974 or visit the Camp Concepts website.
